When a kid does a deed, a grown up comments "That's not right". But seldom the grown up could be able to answer what is right? & what is wrong? This is the question that lingers in everyone's mind once in a while and vanishes without an answer.
Chanakya, the first and foremost management guru, popular for his cunning strategies relates right and wrong with happy and sad by saying "Before you do something to someone, just think how do you feel if the same thing is done the other way round. If you feel happy then something you wanted to do is right otherwise wrong." Chanakya's definition apes this personality, either controversial or convincing. Assuming this world is full of people who belong to the category of 'convincing', I am going to present a story below that needs prioritization from good to bad. I happened to hear this story in a behavioral session where the tutor called my friend & me outside and said "I know you guys don't appreciate what I am doing. So please leave the room. I mark your attendance as present". Save the session I really appreciate the story though it involved little devilry.

There is a ship sailing smoothly over a sea, humming with gentle tides and cool breeze. A beautiful bride standing on the deck of the ship, staring at the stars, awestruck by the eternity of the ocean, almost forgets her anxiety and excitement. Waking her up from the reverie, a winter wind from the freezing hills tickles her tiny waist that was exposed. She pulls the pallu of her saree down to shield her waist from the chill. Two hands hug her from behind, uncovering her waist but comforting her with the warmth of love.
Recognizing the familiar fondle, she turns around and says "what a beautiful night!! Giri. Hope it lasts forever."
"Why are you still awake, Geeta?? Not feeling well? or nervous about getting married?" enquired Giri stroking her dark hair.
"Not able to sleep Giri. The thought of getting married fills my heart with an inexplicable feeling, something like disturbed euphoria." she says leaning her head over his chest.
"I am marrying a 26 year old kid. Trust me kid, I take a better care of you forever and ever" he smiles.
"Would you sing a song for this kid to sleep?" she chuckles.
"Not just a song darling, I do anything to comfort you. Let's go and get some sleep. I want this kid to be fresh in the ceremony" he says keeping his arms around her shoulder.
"Please don't sing but one day you should take me to that island, so serene and isolated" she says pointing her index finger.
"Wow!! It is beautiful. I will take you for sure only if you get to sleep now" replies guiding her to the bed room.
When both of them are struggling to grab some sleep for nearly an hour, ship starts to sway. The frequency of the oscillations surge in a rapid pace. Everyone rushed out of there rooms trembling with fear. Captain, a hefty but hideous person famous for his survival in any kind of storms, starts announcing on a mike "Mayday!! Mayday!! Fasten your life-jackets". Crew makes preparations for emergency situations. Tides become more and more menacing causing the ship to capsize, allowing hardly anytime for preparations except life-jackets. Captain, Passengers and Crew find themselves floating in a calm sea, watching their medium sized ship sinking slowly and steadily. When everyone was floating and ship was half-sunk, a huge whirl nearby caused strong currents to create chaos, breaking the ship and scattering the people in all possible angles, centered at the whirl. Fortunately current carries everyone to shore as it is not far away. No one was either dead or lost but the trouble gets still worse. Before getting into this issue let me rewind the reel backwards a little, just before the start of journey.
Geeta, Giri (Geeta's Fiance), Govind (Geeta's close friend), Ganapathi (An elderly person), Captain Guna, Gopi and Gopal (crew members) start sailing to a nearby island called Milan, popular for marriages. This island attracts couples of all religions from all over the world. Journey from the adjacent city takes about 3 hrs. There is a petty island, isolated in between the city and Milan. Geeta and Giri were in love for nearly 4 years. Finally they decided to get married in this island. Family and Friends reached there a night before to make necessary arrangements wrapped with pretty surprises. Geeta, Giri and Govind sail to city to purchase clothes and jewelry. Geeta does a lot of shopping till the upper limits of Giri's credit cards are breached. She adorns a lot of jewelry to glorify herself for this auspicious occasion. Just a couple of hours before the wedding the storm followed by the whirl capsizes the ship dragging Giri, Govind, Gopi and Gopal to city shore, leaving the rest at the isolated island.
(Present...... )
Geeta blinks her eyes recovering from the shock and searches for her fiancee and friend. She notices no one except Captain Guna, preparing a raft binding the scraps of the ship with improvised techniques. "Giri!! Giri!!" She cries summoning all her strength. Tears roll over her cheek with fear of what might have occurred to her beloved Giri and her friend Govind. A pleasant ring from her mobile brings a call from her beloved soothing her sorrow. "Thank god I changed to night dress. Thank god my mobile still works. Thank god it is from Giri." thinks before picking it up.
"Giri!! are you fine?? where are you??" She screams.
"Listen Geeta. I am at city shore Govind is also with me. Where are you??" Giri says with delight.
"I am in the island between city and Milan. Captain Guna and Ganpati are with me." She replies.
"Listen Geeta. There is an announcement of threat of storm. Please get the hell out of there. City is the near shore. Reach here soon. Ask Captain to help you. No matter what it costs I can't lose you. Please." He prays.
Before she opens her mouth to reply him, mobile breaks down leaving the couple worry above each other. Trembling with fear, wiping her tears, she goes to Mr. Ganapati and asks "Are you fine Sir".
"I am absolutely okay kid. Little tired. Nothing to worry" He replies.
She goes to Captain gathering courage she asks "Captain! I wonder whether you can help me cross this barrier. My fiance Mr. Giri is awaiting me. We are going to get married tomorrow"
"Sorry dear. Carrying 2 people on this raft is more or less risking both of our lives." He replies.
"There is possibility of storm here. Please save us Captain." she pleads disliking his dear.
"Whirlpool is always followed by a storm but I can't risk my life saving yours" he says denying.
"I pay you anything you want Captain, money, jewelry if you take that risk" she says convincingly.
"What can you possibly pay a sailor dear. Money & Materials are merely worthless to me. I love roaming. I love the adventure, the thrill. I love rum. I have everything I love with me save the basic needs" he replies staring at her.
"But the first and foremost thing I love is Giri. I don't have him now. More the time I stay here more the chances of losing him. Please!!! I beg you captain" she pleads still disliking his dear.
"I can understand your situation dear but helping you is more or less sacrificing my life. But I am ready to help you with one condition" He pauses.
"What condition? Don't worry tell me Captain" she demands.
"I can't dear. That's just evil." he says bending his head.
"Please captain. How would I know whether I could help you if you don't tell me" she pleads again.
"Fine. Listen dear. I have fallen in love with you in the moment I saw you. The only thing I don't have but I love is a pretty woman like you. I know you can't marry me moreover I premise you don't have good feeling about me as well." he says avoiding the eye contact.
"I am sorry captain. I have been in love with Giri for past 4 years. I am marrying the same guy. I feel very lucky about it. I beg your pardon in this Captain." she replies with little pride on her beauty.
"I knew that dear. But I will be on the verge of killing myself if I help you. So would you mind sleeping with me? Just one time then I guess I will be ready to die. If I survive by any chance I will remember that incident forever as a pleasant dream, I promise I won't let anyone know it except me." he says shyly
"How dare you bastard. You are just evil. That can never happen. You go to hell. I rather die in this storm." she barks with rage.
"Yes. I am evil. But I really love you. I can't sacrifice my life for nothing. There is no other thoughts about it" he replies firmly.
She goes to the elderly person and weeps. "Don't worry kid. We will be saved by the lord. You will marry your loved one perhaps not on the day you intended" he says stroking her hair with his trembling hands like a father.
"I have just spoken with my future husband. He said there could be a storm here soon, prediction by experts and rescue takes more time to reach here. Tomorrow is my marriage." she says wiping her tears.
"It seems our captain is making an improvised arrangement to evade the possible danger. Why don't you ask his help?" he says.
She explains him the whole story and sobs.
"What should I do now? I am going to die soon. No other way." she weeps uncontrollably
"Kid. If you ask me, nothing is valuable than your life. I hope your Giri will understand. But decision is yours. You think of what is more important to you. A nightmare followed by a wonderful life with the loved one or don't sleep at all killing yourself and leaving your beloved in the pool of sorrow. Nothing is perfectly right or wrong here. You just do as your heart says" sighs the old man.
Once her eyes can't shed anymore tears she lifts her head and looks around. She could sense the serenity of the sea. Captain is ready to sail on his improvised raft. He conveys his humble apologies to both of them and sets his sail.
"Wait!! Wait!!" a scream from behind turns him around.
"Just do what you intended. But I want to live. I want to share my life with Giril" she says still weeping.
"Listen dear. I promise that I will be betting my life to save you" says the captain.
Both of them sail after completing the activity quickly. Storm strikes severely in the middle of their journey, making the predictions come true. Pursuing his promise captain saves her life but kills himself in reaching her to her fiance.
Giri finds no limits to his delight as he watches her coming alive out of a storm. Runs towards her, hugs her firmly, lifts her and kisses her on her forehead.
As she frame out in her mind she tells him the truth but says that she still loves him. Without a second thought Giri says "I am sorry Geeta I would say I can't marry you. I can't have you in my life anymore".
"I have done something to save myself and just to be with you Giri. Can't you understand and forgive?" says finding no tears to weep.
Giri leaves without any word. Gonvind comes forward, holds her hand gently and says "Will you marry me Geeta. P.S. I am not making any sacrifice"
The story ends here abruptly with a question, Arrange all G's (except crew members) in the order from good to bad, good being the first and bad being the last.
My order went like this (Buddies pl. confirm)
1) Ganapathi (old man) --------- Did nothing wrong, nothing right.
2) Govind (Geeta's Friend) --------- Perhaps he had feelings for her. (No one to one relationships in this world, recollect functions in mathematics)
3) Geeta ---------------- Loved Giri unconditionally. Did a sin to save herself and to live with her beloved, with hell lot of regret.
4) Captain Guna ----------------- Though did an evil act, he was truly in love with her, remember he is a sailor.
5) Giri ---------------- Didn't understand the real essence of relationships, immature and delicate. He should think what he could possibly have done if he had to sleep with a girl to survive?
P.S. An episode in House (Serial) runs on the same grounds, where the husband leaves though she is willing to die to save her relationship with him.
